    My old boss used to say - we as managers are really only responsible for two things - structure and culture. And structure is the easy part.

    I agree, they say that nurse job satisfaction occurrs when there is cohesion within the unit. THat cohesiveness can only come if the group of workers is treated like a team and they are somehow given autonomy and empowerment to give you feedback on how to make their working conditions better. My mom is a nurse and I hear about improving the hospital frequently. Hospitals by nature are very bureaucratic.
